Job Description Job Summary Independently assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care of patients from admission, transfer or discharge.
In collaboration with the patient and family, provides theory-based professional nursing care and coordinates are delivery with the physician and other members of the health care team.
Serves as resource professional to all staff assigned to unit.
Minimum Qualifications Education/Training Valid RN license in the State of Maryland.
Experience 2 years medical-surgical nursing experience preferred; experience in a nursing leadership role preferred.
License/Certification/Registration CPR certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated ability to precept.
Demonstrated high level of clinical competence.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent problem-solving ability.
Effective interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills.
Basic math skills.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Attends at least 75% of unit based staff meetings.
Participates in at least on unit based committee and or represents the department of divisional or hospital-wide committees.
Communicates accurately in verbal and written format.
Clearly and accurately documents pertinent information in the patient's medical record.
Attends multidisciplinary patient care rounds.
Conducts chart review.
Ensures that the care given by all staff members is properly documented and consistent with unit standards.
Supervises the performance of the delegated nursing task by the licensed and unlicensed staff.
Assists staff in delegation/time management skills.
Identifies ways to facilitate working relationships among all levels of staff.
Contributes to optimal patient outcomes as coordinator of a unit-based health care team.
Supervises the provision of nursing care to assigned patients.
Consistently demonstrates effective leadership behavior.
Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
Facilitates collaboration among other health team members fostering effective communication with other disciplines.
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
Seeks opportunities to participate in developing, revising standards of practice to meet changing patient population requirements.
Coordinates appropriate care and placement of patients from admission to discharge.
Provides for the safe and efficient transport of patients to other departments.
Facilitates the care of high-risk patients.
Arranges for the transfer of patients interdepartmentally as well as to other facilities.
Handles patient and family complaints real time, following up with nursing management.
Conducts daily patient customer service rounds.
Plans for and implements service recovery if necessary.
Communicates with Customer Service Representatives.
Conducts daily call backs to gather feedback from discharged patients.
Identifies health teaching needs of patients and families.
Develops, implements, and evaluates a health teaching program to meet the identified needs.
Effectively uses and adapts a variety of teaching resources in meeting he learning needs of patient/families.
Initiates and monitors discharge planning activities in collaboration with other members of the health care team.
Takes the lead in facilitating timely discharge.
Collaborates with the Nurse Manager, Case Manager and Assistant Director of Nursing regarding discharge planning.
Maintains a safe a therapeutic environment of caring for patients and families.
Provides basic patient comfort measures.
When necessary, provides environmental support to expedite timely patient admission or transfer.
Coordinates the maintenance repairs and environmental health needs for the department.
Assures safety/emergency checks are completed according to departmental standards.
Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Provides for the emotional support of patients and families during the crisis of illness.
Models patient/family advocacy.
Reviews and revises daily staff and assignments as needed based upon acuity and patient flow activity.
Assigns break and meal periods.
Supervises and provides direct patient care in accordance with accepted nursing standards while utilizing the nursing process.
Oversees and maintains awareness of serious patient issues.
Identifies areas needed for improvement in patient care delivery and plans for effective change.
Serve as a resource to staff, colleagues and other departments.
Demonstrates timely problem solving and decision-making.
Communicates relevant issues with nursing management.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
